FixedFloat – Overview

FixedFloat is an instant cryptocurrency exchange operated by FixedFloat OU, registered in Estonia and licensed under the Estonian Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU licence FVR001). The service, commonly known by its domain ff.io, launched in 2018 and lets users swap crypto directly from their own wallets, without opening an account.

FixedFloat does not require KYC verification for standard swaps. The platform relies on an internal risk system to flag unusual activity rather than asking every user for identification up front. FixedFloat has not published a specific dollar threshold that triggers extra review, so the internal criteria stay undisclosed. If a swap does get flagged, the platform’s terms describe a review window during which a user can provide information about the source of funds; if nothing is provided in that window, funds are typically returned to the original sending address.

FixedFloat was one of the first larger exchanges to add Bitcoin Lightning Network support, back in 2018, and it still lists Lightning as a payment option today. The platform also supports Monero and Zcash, two privacy focused coins that have been dropped by several bigger exchanges over the past few years.

For liquidity, FixedFloat combines its own reserves with external sources, including major exchanges such as Binance and OKX, to fill orders at competitive rates. Users can choose between a fixed rate, which locks in the price for a short window, or a floating rate that follows the live market until the swap confirms. Typical fees land in the 0.5% to 1% range, worked into the quoted rate itself.

FixedFloat does not publish a fixed maximum swap size, and the largest publicly documented swaps have run into hundreds of bitcoin. Minimum amounts vary by coin and by which rate type is selected. Most swaps settle within a couple of minutes, helped along by the platform’s use of Lightning for BTC transfers.

Support runs through email and a Telegram based live chat channel, and FixedFloat offers an affiliate API for partners who want to plug its exchange functionality into their own sites or apps.
