SimpleSwap – Overview

SimpleSwap is an instant cryptocurrency exchange that has been running since 2018. It lets users swap coins directly from their own wallets without creating an account, and it lists more than 1,500 cryptocurrencies natively, with access to roughly 2,800 more through partner integrations.

SimpleSwap has drawn regulatory attention in the past. In March 2025, the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority issued a public warning that SimpleSwap was operating in the UK without the required registration. The company is currently registered in the Marshall Islands, after an earlier UK-registered entity was dissolved in 2021. Anyone in the UK considering SimpleSwap should be aware of this warning before using the service.

SimpleSwap does not require KYC verification for standard swaps. Its partners apply their own risk-based screening, and if a user is asked for further information and declines to provide it, SimpleSwap’s terms state that funds are returned to the original sending address, though the company reserves the right to decline future service to that user. Separately, SimpleSwap can freeze funds for the duration of a review if illegal activity is suspected. SimpleSwap also has strong support for Monero, with dedicated pages for Monero trading pairs, alongside Zcash.

SimpleSwap functions as a swap aggregator rather than a direct liquidity provider. It connects to more than 20 external exchanges and market makers to source rates, and it does not hold its own reserves or run an internal order book. In at least one documented user dispute, SimpleSwap declined to identify which specific liquidity partner was holding the funds in question, citing confidentiality. Users who want full transparency into where their funds sit mid-swap should factor this into their decision.

SimpleSwap offers both fixed and floating exchange rates, with fees generally running in the 1% to 2% range depending on the rate type chosen, and places no fixed cap on the maximum swap size. The platform also runs a four-tier loyalty program (Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum) that reduces fees and adds perks like a dedicated Telegram contact for higher-volume users.
