Binance Loans – Overview

Running the world’s largest crypto exchange means Binance can offer borrowing at a scale most standalone lenders can’t match, and Binance Loans reflects that with two distinct products rather than a single one-size-fits-all offering. Between them, they cover most of what a crypto holder might want from a loan, whether that’s ongoing flexibility or a fixed, predictable rate.

The Flexible Loan is the more open-ended of the two. You pick a collateral asset and a loan asset, say USDT collateral against a BTC loan, and that position stays open indefinitely as long as your LTV stays within range. There’s no maturity date forcing your hand. Rates on Flexible Loans update every single minute based on live market conditions, so what you pay today won’t necessarily be what you pay next week, and Binance expects borrowers to keep an eye on that rather than assume it’s locked in.

The Fixed Rate Loan works differently. Instead of tracking a constantly shifting market rate, it matches borrowers directly against individual lenders who’ve placed supply orders at a rate they’re comfortable with. Once matched, that rate holds for the entire loan term, whether that’s 7, 14, 30, 90, or 180 days, and Binance throws in optional auto-repay and auto-renew features so the position can manage itself without you checking in constantly.

Each loan position is isolated, which matters more than it might sound. If you open a USDT-collateral, ETH-loan position and separately a BTC-collateral, USDT-loan position, they’re tracked completely independently, each with its own LTV, its own margin call level, and its own liquidation threshold. Trouble in one position won’t spill over and drag down another.

Liquidation itself follows a staged process. A margin call fires first, warning you that a position is getting close to its danger zone, giving you the chance to add collateral or pay down part of the loan. If you don’t act and LTV climbs to the hard cap of 91%, Binance steps in, sells off enough collateral to cover the debt plus a 2% liquidation fee, and returns whatever’s left to your spot wallet rather than keeping the full amount. Miss a payment on a fixed-term loan and you get a grace period too, 72 hours for shorter terms and 168 hours for terms of 30 days or more, before liquidation kicks in.

One thing worth noting: Binance publishes regular Proof of Reserves, giving borrowers and the broader user base a way to independently verify holdings rather than just taking the exchange’s word for it. VIP users with higher trading volume or larger BNB holdings also get access to preferential loan terms through Binance’s tiered VIP structure, on top of the standard referral program available to all users.
