OKX Loan splits into two fairly different products, and which one makes sense depends mostly on how much certainty you want. The Flexible Loan is built for on-demand borrowing, no approval process, no waiting around. The system checks your collateral, works out your LTV, and executes the loan right away. The Fixed Loan trades that immediacy for predictability, locking in a set rate for a chosen term, anywhere from 7 days out to a full 12 months.
Collateral options are broad, covering a wide range of coins rather than just the usual BTC and ETH pairing, and you can get started with as little as $100 in crypto put up as collateral. Depending on which asset you’re using, LTV options vary, and OKX lets you choose your own comfort level within what’s offered. As an example, putting up $10,000 in ETH at a 50% LTV would get you access to roughly $5,000 in borrowed funds.
One detail worth calling out: OKX rolled out a health factor metric for the Flexible Loan, a normalized number meant to make liquidation risk easier to read at a glance rather than mentally tracking raw LTV percentages against a threshold. The higher the number, the safer your position; if it drops to 1 or below, liquidation becomes a real possibility. It’s a small addition, but it takes some of the guesswork out of monitoring a position day to day.
Risk management still runs on margin calls underneath that health factor display. As your LTV climbs toward the platform’s Margin Call level, OKX sends alerts through email, phone calls, and site notifications, giving you room to add collateral or repay part of the loan before things escalate. Cross the Liquidation LTV and the system automatically sells off collateral to cover the loan, interest, and any fees, with whatever’s left returned to you rather than the whole position being wiped out. It’s worth noting that liquidation triggers automatically and won’t pause for you to react, so leaving a buffer below your chosen LTV rather than maxing it out is generally the safer approach.
Repayment flexibility differs sharply between the two products. Flexible Loans can be repaid anytime with no real penalty. Fixed Loans are a different story, since the rate and term are locked in upfront, repaying early doesn’t typically save you much, so they’re better suited to borrowers who are fairly confident they’ll ride out the full term.
Funds land quickly too, often within minutes and almost always inside 24 hours, paid out in either fiat or crypto depending on preference. High-volume traders sitting at VIP5 and above get access to a separate VIP loan tier with terms that aren’t available to standard retail borrowers, on top of OKX’s usual referral program.
