Trezor Safe 5 is a hardware wallet designed and manufactured by SatoshiLabs, the Prague-based company behind the world’s first hardware wallet. The Safe 5 sits above the entry-level Safe 3 in the Trezor lineup, adding a vibrant color touchscreen and haptic feedback while keeping the fully open-source architecture that Trezor is known for.
Security is built around a certified EAL6+ Secure Element chip with no NDA restrictions on documentation. All firmware and hardware schematics are publicly available on GitHub, which means independent researchers can verify exactly how the device protects private keys. The device also supports PIN protection, BIP39 passphrase (25th word), and includes tamper-evident casing and security seals in the packaging.
The Safe 5 connects via USB-C and works with Trezor Suite on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android. A MicroSD card slot enables encrypted PIN entry and offline seed phrase backups. Recovery options include standard 12 or 24-word seed phrases and the 20-word Advanced Multi-share Backup, Trezor’s implementation of Shamir Secret Sharing, which splits the recovery seed across multiple fragments to eliminate a single point of failure.
The wallet supports thousands of coins and tokens, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and all major EVM-compatible assets. It connects to MetaMask, Electrum, Sparrow, and dozens of other third-party apps via Trezor Connect. A separate Bitcoin-only firmware version is available for users who want a reduced attack surface.
Trezor Safe 5 ships in three colors: Black Graphite, Green Beryl, and Violet Ore. In the box: USB-C cable, two 20-word backup cards, and a startup guide. CE and RoHS certified.
