Trezor Safe 7
The Trezor Safe 7 is a hardware wallet with a 2.5-inch color touchscreen, Bluetooth 5.0+, and Qi2 wireless charging. It uses two independent Secure Element chips — OPTIGA Trust M (EAL6+) and the fully auditable TROPIC01 — alongside a hardened STM32U5 MCU, and is the first hardware wallet with a quantum-ready architecture for firmware and device authentication.

Trezor Safe 7 Overview
The Trezor Safe 7 is a hardware wallet made by Trezor, a brand of SatoshiLabs. It is available in a standard edition and a Bitcoin-only edition. Both share identical hardware; the difference is in the firmware.
The casing is a machine-anodised aluminium unibody with a Gorilla Glass 3 display, an NCVM-coated glass backplate, and IP54 protection against dust and splashes. The device is not designed for full submersion. It measures 75.4 x 44.5 x 8.3 mm and weighs 45 grams.
The screen is a 2.5-inch high-resolution color touchscreen at 520 x 380 pixels with Gorilla Glass 3 and haptic feedback. Navigation and transaction confirmation happen on the touchscreen. Transactions can be reviewed in full detail before approval.
Three hardware security layers protect the device. The first is TROPIC01, described by Trezor as the world’s only independently auditable Secure Element, developed by Tropic Square, a SatoshiLabs company. The second is OPTIGA Trust M (V3), an EAL6+ certified, NDA-free Secure Element from Infineon. The third is the STM32U5G, a hardened security MCU from STMicroelectronics running at 160 MHz. Each chip holds separate secrets; compromising one is not sufficient to access the wallet. Both Secure Elements include voltage, temperature, and laser detection that can block operations or wipe secrets if tampering is detected.
Trezor describes the Safe 7 as the world’s first quantum-ready hardware wallet. The boot process, firmware updates, and device authentication are secured with post-quantum cryptography: SLH-DSA-128 for firmware verification and ML-DSA-44 for device attestation. The boardloader verifies both classical (EdDSA) and post-quantum (SLH-DSA-128) signatures simultaneously.
Connectivity includes USB-C and Bluetooth 5.0+. Both connections are encrypted using the Trezor Host Protocol (THP). Bluetooth works with macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android. A built-in LiFePO₄ battery (3.2V, 330 mAh) enables wireless use. Qi2-compatible wireless charging is supported. USB-C charging and wired communication are also available.
The default backup method is a Single-share Backup: a 20-word recovery phrase based on the SLIP39 standard. Multi-share Backup (Shamir Backup with multiple shares) is also supported, allowing the recovery phrase to be split across several physical locations. Standard BIP39 recovery phrases of 12, 18, or 24 words are also compatible for migrating from other wallets. An optional passphrase (extra word) adds a further security layer.
The companion app is Trezor Suite, available for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. The standard edition of the Safe 7 supports 1,000+ coins and tokens. Third-party wallet app support includes MetaMask, Rabby, Exodus, and Electrum, among others listed on trezor.io/third-party-wallet-apps. NFT, DeFi, and staking are accessible through Trezor Suite and compatible third-party apps.
All Trezor firmware is fully open source and published on GitHub. The device is CE and RoHS certified and is stated to be X-ray safe and suitable for air travel. Operating temperature range: 0°C to +45°C.
